I think Anne Rice would rather die than even be in the same room with the likes of SMeyer. Where Anne Rice gives vampires a brilliant name, Meyer gives vampires a horrible name. Can you tell how much I dislike SMeyer.

I'd suggest trying Dracula before declaring her queen.

I've read Dracula thank you very much, I'm not declaring her queen, I'm just saying she's better than Meyer. And the secret poster didn't put Bram Stoker in there, so I didn't mention him.

You might have been better off not admitting that. Rice is better than SMeyer, but she's still an arrogant, talentless hack.

Actually, I while I think Dracula was bad ass, the book was eh. Now Stephen King knows how to write a vampire story.

King is interesting, but I wouldn't personally call him a great writer. His style is so distinctive that I can never forget the author when I'm reading him. His books don't give me chills or anything.

(With two exceptions, those being: Dolores - for the well scene, if you've read it - and Apt Pupil, which just scared the shit out of me.)

To be honest, it's probably not Anne Rice's fault, but I think she may have actually given vampires their bad name in the first place. I know a lot of vampire fans hate her for turning her vampires into hot good-guy emoboys.

Myself, I liked Interview with the Vampire and about half of Queen of the Damned (in random chunks), LOVED The Vampire Lestat, and can't stand any of the rest of the series. She writes better vampires than SMeyer, true that (SPARKLESSSSSSS), but it's like she forgot how to keep anyone she was writing internally consistant, in-character, and well-written by the time she got to Tale of the Body Thief.

I agree that some of her later stuff wasn't that great, I was just saying that she's better than Meyer. I personally LOVED the Vampire Lestat as well, and Interview with the Vampire.

I wouldn't exactly call Lestat a good guy. Emo and whiny? Yes, definitely, but not a good guy by any stretch of the imagination.
