Re: Question About Trick-or-Treating

(Anonymous) 2020-05-05 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Grew up in an a small apartment building in a more residential part of an urban area in a major city.

In my building, one of my neighbors would give us candy. We would leave the block and just roam up and down the "main street" where stores and other businesses would have candy for the kids. There were also some houses in the area, so whichever ones were decorated were usually hit up for candy as well. I did have friends who went to nicer neighborhoods to trick-or-treat. Some bigger buildings may have had trick or treating inside. It depends on the building and its tenants.

Part of the fun was going outside in your costume and finding the candy! I used ot be out until it got a bit dark, and always went in a group with my mom or a friend's mom (or just a small group of us when I got a little older). As things have changed, a lot of kids end up trick-or treating right after school, and by 7 PM it's over.
