I would love to see a lot more of this, too.

I haven't seen all the seasons of L&O:SVU, but Olivia and Elliot had that, for as long as I watched the show, and it was awesome.

I hope they didn't screw it up later.

Criminal Minds had that, too, for a while, until they *did* screw it up, but at least Derek and Garcia never dated or anything (though they really should have. i know, i know!!).

I particularly hate the kind of 'well, he's here and she's here, smush 'em together' kind of 'ship where there's not only no reason, but barely any time and practically zero chemistry between characters, but still - gotta have that 'ship!!

I'd argue for Olivia and Elliot, M/F frendship was the big thing, over everything. They definitely cared about each other. But there were definitely a few moments where things might have fallen in a different direction (I'm thinking later seasons, when Elliot is having troubles with his wife, his daughter, it's just a whole shit show, and Olivia is his friend, but there was definitely a moment of certain kinds of gazes -- they both snapped out of it however, which I appreciated). I feel like Criminal intent also does this pretty well. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say a fair number of procedural do that well.

As for Criminal Minds, they were always super flirty with each other -- I loved their dynamic and wanted them together, but I'm glad they remained friends, and honestly, they just really cared for each other. I feel like Spencer had something similar with Prentiss (not the same, by any means, but he was like a little brother, ay know).

I'm glad they snapped out of it!

I had heard that Spencer and....JJ? had some kind of thing? Which if true is disappointing.

I loved that ensemble; they were good friends and had a wonderful vibe, and shipping any of them on the show would have been dreadful.

I had heard that Spencer and....JJ? had some kind of thing? Which if true is disappointing.

JJ admitted towards the end of the show's run that she'd had feelings for Reid, and he acknowledged he had feelings for her, too. But they never actually acted on them. JJ made it clear she was happy with Will and her family and Reid was fine with that, and so they ultimately remained close friends.

I like that ship, so I had no problem with them exploring that aspect, but I do like their friendship as it stands, too, so I would've been fine no matter what route they went with it.

Well, wtf was the point of that declaration, then? Arrgh. It's like they have to insert that will they/won't they tension *no matter what*.

I always liked Will, and I always liked the JJ/Spencer friendship, so that would have made me grit my teeth.

Good for shippers, though. :D

AYRT

I feel like some of it might've had to do with the fact that since they were heading into their final season, it felt like a full circle closure thing on the fact they did go out on a date way back in the first season, and Reid did have a bit of a crush on her early on. Perhaps they just wanted to give a nod to that before things wrapped up for good? They didn't seem to be exploring it in a "This might actually happen" sort of way, it came off more as a "What could've been" kind of thing.

I like Will, too-I'm the sort who tends to like the canon love interest even as I'm shipping a non-canon pairing :p. I do like that JJ's been able to have a successful, long-lasting relationship on this show, 'cause, well, many of the other team members haven't had much luck in that department, so it's nice to see one that has, and Will's a good guy. And so many fans were so sure that they were going to totally ruin things between Will/JJ, so I like that their fears never came to pass. If they actually had gone ahead with putting Reid and JJ together at any point in the show's run, I'd definitely want it done in a way that didn't ruin Will or his relationship and history with JJ in the process. There's aspects of the storyline I might've handled a little differently, but all things considered, I think they handled it about as well as they could've, personally. The resolution worked for me. *Shrugs*

But yeah, that's the thing about CM, so many shipping preferences, it's easy to see where things could get really messy in that regard and cause some issues :p.

That's cool. That's a good way to go about it.

CM, while not being great vis-a-vis; way too much torture porn and violence against women - was an *awesome* ensemble show, and i really loved how the team interacted and grew closer, and stronger.

Unpopular Opinion - i did not like M. Patinkin's character from day one, and was *not* sorry to see him go.
