Re: CW: death, illness
So I got a text from mom: plese call dad, he's very sick. He only got home on Thursday after a month long stay at the hospital and a care facility. I talked to him and he was already at his happy place, lol. Completely delusional about where he was. I told him I care for him, and think about him, and that he's with mom who loves him.
I've been messaging with my brothers, and one of them is very concerned that the home helpers (who come 6 times per day) will call an ambulance for him. Dad is very adamant that he wants to be at home, with mom. It would be torture to force an old man to die alone at the hospital when he wants to be home with his wife. He has already been told that he will not receive any emergency treatment like CPR if he were to need it. We've known it for a month or so. Mom said she will stay awake all night and communicate to the people who come that they must not take him.
I hope for a peaceful passing.
Re: CW: death, illness
I'm so, so sorry. All of the hugs for you and for your family. I hope your dad's remaining time is peaceful and happy and with the people he loves and who love him. It sounds like you all are looking out for him and doing everything he wants, and he is in good hands with his family.
I hope you can take care of yourself too and are able to mourn and have people you can lean on.
Re: CW: death, illness
Thanks. <3 If anything this has taught me is that there is definitely a point where medical treatment hurts more than it helps. Not everyone is meant to live to a hundred. (Though, we always hope we will be the rare exception, eh?)
I'm lucky to have friends, just needed to vent! I think dying at home is a human right.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-09 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)I don't know how it works elsewhere, but we lost my brother to cancer last year and we took him home to nurse him through end of life. On the night of his passing, we called an ambulance for additional pain relief, but as soon as we said that he wanted to pass at home, they accepted that fully. (UK).
I hope your Dad has an easy passing and wish love and comfort to your family.

I hope, to, that he has a peaceful passing, in his home, with the woman he loves. That is the truly best thing for so many people, and it's horrible if they're denied it.
I hope you're doing okay, bb.
*blessings*
