(Anonymous) 2020-05-10 01:00 am (UTC)(link)The wolf-pack aspect is so not my scene. To me it just feels like an additional layer of social role essentialism. Like, an omega who is capable of rejecting suitors is cool, but I much prefer when they don't have to, because nobody is treating them like a prize to be won in the first place.
Not a big fan of helplessness either though. I prefer when both characters are able to control themselves, if only barely.

I am so very glad that fandom provides (as a rule) for all our different tastes.
I like the idea of omegas being rare and therefore yes, prizes, but nobody owns one or anything. Hormones and instinct might make you fight, but if you ultimately don't click, then it's 'fuck no' and find someone else (or a great, big dildo). And yes - all those hormones making everything feel *really really good*.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-10 01:43 am (UTC)(link)I guess you could say that I like seeing the alpha/beta/omega stuff as more "personality types" than biological classes that are innate and unchangeable.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-10 01:52 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, I can understand this. Personally, I just don't like it much either way. I prefer when there are no personality types that are particularly associated with the a/b/o types, AND no innate gender behaviors.
I like my a/o roles confined to how things go in the bedroom. Outside the bedroom, who's to say? They're just people.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-10 03:26 am (UTC)(link)But none of those things inherently correlate with personality or D/s roles. Personally, I prefer fics where the Omega is more independent and assertive and prone to physically defending their mate, while the alpha is more easy going and gentle and a bit emotionally needy.
