While I don't agree with their point of view overall, I do understand why they wouldn't focus their efforts on Dr. Seuss or Roald Dahl making adult material

Viz, they are dead

Well, as far as living people, there’s Dan Schneider soliciting underage fans for feet pics.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-11 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't Dan Schneider get fired in 2018? Are people out there soldiering on for Schneider? What's the possible use of this comparison?

Well, his show Henry Danger just ended last month, so I think he still has some kind of career.

(I can’t think of other examples to draw on. I don’t read a lot of articles about which entertainers are involved in sexual harassment or whatnot.)

(Anonymous) 2020-05-11 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
He no longer had an executive producer credit on Henry Danger after 2018, just a created by credit. He hasn't had any production credits at all after June 2019 for a season of a show that started airing in 2018 (yes, I went and looked this up).

IDK it just seems like weird whataboutism to me. You can very easily make the point the article is dumb and wrong without accusing people of also being insincere, and the examples cited seem especially useless.

OP: But they are insinciere, or at least very misguided. Being an anti has everything to do with harassment of fans and creators and very little to do with protecting children.

Yeah, that article was bullshit for multiple reasons. What about all the efforts fans have made to keep porn out of the main tags? I remember there being a massive cleanup after folks complained about how much MLP porn was showing up with Safesearch on.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-11 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Didn't they also do the clean up for other fandoms? I recall them doing that and at the time.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-12 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
What is this?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-12 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
So I'm guessing no-one told these guys about the Disney Porn Archives?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-12 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
People crying about porn of kids shows on the internet just makes me laugh my ass off because honey, I was a kid on the internet in the early 90s, and you want to know what the first porn I found on the net was? Disney princess porn.

Please tell me this article is from a Christian media watchdog site.

Believe it not these days you'll hear calls for censorship and talk about degenerates more often than not from the secular. Their an entire subset of "leftist fandom" that are quite ironically hardcore purists. It's the same end goal and but they dress it up in a bit different language.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-12 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
I hate that the article is trying to convince us that adults shouldn't be allowed to make any adult content ever, jsut in case a child finds it. it's absurd!

That said, I'm deeply uncofmortable with adult content being posted on websites not explictly intended for adult audience. And I'm even more uncomfortable with child content creators using the same account for posting child content and adult content.

You'd need a Ouija board or a shovel to harass Seuss or Dahl.

Lovecraft and Tiptree are now widely regarded as problematic, to the point of changing awards that were formerly in honor of them.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-12 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That is... almost entirely irrelevant.

The purity brigade's not after Lovecraft and Tiptree, who didn't write children's books or pornography. Furthermore, Tiptree's work is not widely considered problematic. Tiptree's award was renamed because she murdered her husband and then killed herself.

Tiptree and Lovecraft are both dead, though. So one point to you, I guess.
