Not to "well ACKTCHUALLY...." you, but Disney/Pixar has always been very firm on their stance that their movies aren't children's movies, they're family films. Meaning that there IS no primary audience; they're intended for literally everyone to enjoy on the same level. That does mean that they need to be digestible for kids, sure, but kids are not in fact the primary audience.

i'm 100% sure they claim that from a marketing standpoint because people see "childrens movies" as *only* for children. but clearly the marketing for disney/pixar targets for parents with children. not single 30 year old adults

everyone enjoying it on the same level is "digestible to all / lowest common denominator" so in reality you end up with the same thing
