I've managed ti wipe most of the movies from my mind. But I'm still annoyed about how PJ turned Sam, a brown-skinned, brown-eyed and probably brown-haired hobbit into a fair-skinned green-eyed blond. Same goes for Merry and Pippin tbh.

As I recall, blond hair was supposed to be quite rare among hobbits and an indication of lineage from the Fallowhides, hobbits who used to be more tree-dwelling and closer to elves. Weren't the Tooks supposed to have some kind of ancestry from them, though? Which ironically would make Pippin, the only brown-haired hobbit in the films, the one who was supposed to be blonder.

I suspect what Tolkien meant by "brown-skinned" would be more like a farmer's tan, though.
