I've never heard about any of these works, so no, it's still true of Deathly Hallows. there's a reason why Stonewall was happy for the announcement. And I can point to obscure tv shows with gay characters prior to Korra myself, so it absolutely is the same.

Potterheads seem to have this really weird reality distortion field where not only is Potter the most popular, it's also the most progressive and beyond criticism or comparison.
