I was really late to Frozen but had seen images of her everywhere, and even though like everyone I had heard the 'Let it Go' song before seeing the movie - I was still surprised at the voice for Elsa when I did get to see it. Mostly because she sounded a lot older than her character was suppose to be to me.

That's literally every character ever to be voiced though. Like seriously, 99% of the time it's actors in their late 20's being cast in high school dramas, and anywhere a producer can get away with not having to hire a child due to the laws that'll raise the cost of filming.
You can say the same for literally any other Disney protagonist, in fact Elsa is actually older than most of them, she's 21 at the beginning of the first movie, which is why I literally do not understand why her voice could be considered odd, given the fact she is a full fledged adult.

Sorry that my ears don't agree with you.

ayrt

Right, you want to list me some reasons why, or are you just gonna let that stick up your ass do the talking for you?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-17 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
DA

AYRT: I personally disagree
You: PROVE IT.

lol you are a very hilarious person - I'm sure you'll survive somehow with the fact that there are people in the world who don't agree with you <3

and I've got something better than a stick up my ass ;)

damn that's some reaction.

Younger adults sound different than older adults.

That's very observant of you, you must be proud of yourself with that one... but I digress. No one has a problem with older individuals voicing characters much younger than them in any other circumstance that I've seen. The fact that every character in this movie is voice by people significantly older than their descripted age makes Idina's age difference a moot point in comparison.

AYRT Why are you SO adamant about this? In most examples of voice acting, there's almost always someone whose voice doesn't quite fit or people who disagree about that or whatever. No one is singling out Idina Menzel and ONLY Idina Menzel for this, just that she's the one example currently being talked about because that's...what the secret is about....

Are you in anime fandom? Because that's a complaint I see in anime fandom ALL THE TIME - that so-and-so character sounds way too old.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-18 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
DA Idina's voice though... She sounds very old, even older than she is, I'd say. It's a very weird voice for Elsa and doesn't feel natural to me either.
