People can get so weird with kids. It might not be about the kids specifically though, might be some kind of weird flex "I'm thinking about you because I'm part of the family" thing. Don't know anyone involved to judge but I would back away from that situation too.

Oh yes, I'm 100% hands off there. I wouldn't really like it if that were my child and I felt like someone was trying to assert a closer relationship than what actually existed, and I think that's why it makes me feel uncomfortable.
