Agree with you OP. For me , it's less that Idina's voice sounds too "old" for Elsa and more that it sounds "too strong, too confident." For all her powers, Elsa is really quite a sensitive and emotionally fragile character, and it would be nice to hear some of that fear and hesitance in her voice.

Caissie Levy's rendition of "Let It Go" is not an instant showstopper in quite the same way that Idina's is, but it comes across as much truer to the character. She starts off a little timid, like she's not sure what she's doing or if she wants to, and then it really builds and escalates as it goes. You can hear her gaining more confidence as she goes, and it really cements "Let It Go" as character development in action.

hmm maybe that's why I'm fine with idina's voice? because i don't think "let it go" IS character development. it's a sign of how much of elsa is emotionally stunted and how she can't see that her new actions aren't serving her.
