I'm not opposed to the idea of romantic comedies, but I dislike a lot of the cliches and tropes that usually come with them. I don't like the manchild (who learns to be an adult) + competent woman pairing. I don't like its variation, the fun guy + killjoy woman (who learns to be fun in the mainstream acceptable way), and I don't like when children are involved, especially because it usually involves a person who's not good with kids/doesn't want kids magically becoming a parental figure.

And then there are all the toxic stereotypes about men and women, which are hard to avoid in many genres.
