This is sad for a lot of reasons. For a while I was debating whether to get back into doing art. I haven't for a very long time but I was debating it and thought I'd use DA as my hub again if I did. I wouldn't want to use Tumblr and being able to organize work like on DA would be nice. It's true there's a lot of shit wrong on the site now but that's with any good size site now unfortunately. They have been bleeding users since forcing changes and not fostering better community. And it's sad because I use to love using it and it use to be such a great site where artists use to operate solely. Now they use things like instagram as "home bases".

I use to use DA when I was in high school to post both my sketches and pen and ink as well as some writing. And honestly I loved the old design of the site. It was easy to find things and easy to organize things to me and I loved all the buttons and such. I also even liked frequenting the forums. It's so sad to see them throw that all away for a really shitty and broken design. It's also pathetic that this web design has been out for as long as it has and is still basically unfinished. And I've never heard of anyone giving them positive feedback on it either. It's sadly become the norm for sites to just ignore the userbase like this. It's shit. It use to be optional to use but now they've forced it on everyone and it's hell to navigate on desktop.

I just moved back to it. There's a lot I don't like, but it isn't unbearable. If nothing else I use it to store my art in galleries, submit to artist allies, and if I get engagement there all the better. I'm trying to reach out and like/comment on things each time I log in.

I still use instagram too but it's more like a highlight reel.
