I guess I should've clarified that this was specifically in reference to the "hate to love" trope where they're set up to become romantically involved and the POV character stops everything to do an internal monologue of how hot they are...but they totally hate them! Because they're a big meanie head! It's way too common in some romances/romance subplots and really takes me out of things because it's really obvious what's being set up. It's just clumsy to me and makes the POV character sound really childish because it sounds like the sort of "he pulls your hair because he likes you" shit.
