I’m wondering what’s up with the child. How much pressure are they under to live an influencer-friendly life? What happens if they have a hobby or a friend or, in the future, a boyfriend or girlfriend who just isn’t marketable enough?

i blame all the memes telling people to start a side hustle in quarantine or else UR a Failure

really tho, that does sound like something that would bother me too. i agree with you on the geotagging of their children's pictures. plus i don't like the impression i get from this secret that she's using her child to try and manipulate her audience (even if unsuccessful). not assuming bc idk if you do, but i personally wouldn't follow her or anyone who talks about her just bc that would upset me so much. it would still worry me tho how far she'd take it in the face of not getting the results she wants tho only bc of how the child is being involved.

That person sounds like a big fucking yikes. That poor kid.

Seconded.

That phrase about "loving things and using people" comes to mind.

Oh shit, I think I know who you're talking about. Is the fandom American Girl?

(Anonymous) 2020-05-23 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I think you're being kind. This person doesn't sound like a good person, and they're definitely not a good parent. But then, people often get blinded by their own greed.

+1

Yeah, all of this. I feel so bad for the kid, and what the fuck are they doing continuing to post location pics after they've been burglarized for it or whatever! Like they're putting their family at risk at this point for absolutely no reason. From the sounds of it everything else comes second fiddle to their love of some company, and that's just sad, imo.

Ugh, I hate when influencers (or wannabe's) use their kids.

I pity that child. Their own mother, pimping them out.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-23 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, might be the dad. I thought for some reason that "she" was being used as the pronoun and not "they". My point still stands, though.

Reminds me of that one assholes in a fandom I was in who kept begging for money because she couldn't afford a lawyer for a custody battle against her ex yet kept showing off her newly bought expensive merchandise all the time while also bragging about how perfect of a mother she was.
That person was generally disgusting.

This reminds me of Venus Angelic's mom...

Tbh I find that's irresponsible and bad parenting.

(Anonymous) 2020-05-24 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Begging and guilting people for money has become socially acceptable and a way of life. it really pisses me off. I am not talking about someone with a sick kid who misses work to be with them so they need help with bills, the person who's car is broken down and they need it for work, or the single person who lost everything in a fire and is starting over. I gladly help those kind of people. I am talking about what OP described or the person that needs a vacation but refuses to work or the ones that want an expensive item and thinks the world owes it to them.
