yeah, "(presumably) being sat on in an archive by a studio with no plans (or possibly ability) to do anything with it" is a monumental ballache

the best thing i've found for the series i really want (as if - probably never getting commercially released because nobody can deal with the music licensing issues) was awful quality, probably vhs rips from original recording off the tv, that seemed to have been dubbed in spanish

then there's faking it (i don't care, i loved it) which i would love to buy in a physical form, but there's no market (i can buy it on amazon prime for £20 a season)

but neither of those is necessarily the same thing as "only known copy was taped over fifty years ago"

Try "last known copy was lost in the [XYZ] vault fire." Still, SMDH at archives, rightsholders, and collectors who are sitting on copies of titles that fans want to see.
