101: agreed, agreed agreed, I get that Manga, Comics and Graphic novels are pretty but I've never found a picture that can outdo the imagery summoned in your own mind's eye by a really great book. and no; Twilight doesn't count.

101. But graphic novels aren't about the pretty. Nice artwork helps, yeah, but have you looked through Watchmen? Sandman? Y: The Last Man? V for Vendetta? Road To Perdition?

The story is what's brilliant and draws critical acclaim; I mean, Watchmen is an absolute classic that takes on issues of authority and subverts the entire notion of a superhero. Especially for its time, it's an absolutely amazing piece of work.

I dunno, I always feel like people who reject comic books are missing out on a whole section of awesome stories.
