Every time I read something like 117 I immediately think, "So you don't like McKeller?" *sigh*

Look, I hate the pairing too. Not because I ship something else, because honestly I just think this show would be better off without romance (most shows would, in my opinion) - but because they don't make a good match. Because even if you think they DO make a good match, they aren't going to last. Because she likes him much more when he's 'McKay Light' than when he's just 'McKay', and the seventeen times she asked him to 'do this' or 'try not to do that' in order to not embarrass her in the first FIFTEEN MINUTES of 'Brain Storm' makes me think she doesn't care for him as is the way she should. If anything, she acts more like his big sister or babysitter than anything.

THAT BEING SAID, I can't stand to see people saying 'I hate Rodney this season'. Blah. You people make me lose faith in fandom. Rodney is NO different than he was ANY OTHER SEASON. He is the same old Rodney; if you liked him season one, you should like him now. The only time he's that 'different' is when he's with Keller, but from previous seasons we've seen that he's ALWAYS been that way with his girlfriends. If you have a problem with Rodney getting more screen time, than okay, I get it, this certainly wasn't -my- ideal way for the series to end either, but it's not Rodney's fault, he's a fucking fictional character, why are you blaming him? Blame the writers who have such a big hard on for the geek getting the girl that they've made this show all about him and his epic search for a women who will stand him (instead of spending time on all the characters like they SHOULD be doing). It's not poor Rodney's fault, the guy just wants to be loved! (And hell, doesn't think he can do better either. This IS Rodney we're talking about; he'll latch on to about anything you throw at him in that respect.)

Sheesh. Just because you don't like the amount of time he's been given or the person they've paired him with doesn't mean he's turned into (more of a) bastard.

Haha, I always find it funny when I see one of these. Nice to know two paragraphs is too much for your brain to handle. If you just don't want to read it, that's fine too; don't see why you took the time to comment to this though.

First - I am not saying Rodney is different this season - I'm saying I'm tired of the fact that HE gets all of the story lines while everyone else and all other plot lines is shoved to the side. I know it's no different than it ever has been - I'm just fed up with it and glad that the show is over because now it will end.

Second - I don't hate Mckay the person I hate the way Mckay is being written. I KNOW he's a fictional character - do you? You're the one acting like my frustration with how he's written is hurting him with your "poor Mckay" talk.

Fair enough, but since the secret was a little vague on the why's and since in your other comment you did say you didn't recognize McKay this season, I assumed you meant he's 'different'. I understand being upset that he's such a central point this season, but he's always been a big focus in this show. Another thing to remember is that TPTB didn't go into the season knowing their show would be canceled, and by the time they found out they were probably too far in to do much changing. What they already had in mind for the rest of the season is probably what they had to go with, though I know they had initially thought they were getting a sixth season - maybe they were going to focus more on the team then? It just sucks they didn't have the knowledge sooner so they could have handled things differently. (That being said, I'm still sad show is ending.)

Yea, I realize McKay is fictional - is it crazy to become attached to a fictional character? I just don't get it when people blame the character for the writers problems, and if that's not what you're doing, then good.

If you're talking about the comment thread on page 3 if you'll go back and red it you'll notice that I - the anonymous person - did not say anything about not recognizing Rodney - vida_boheme did. The thing is I DO recognize Rodney and if the writers hadn't shoved all other plot lines to the side for him and his epic quest for love I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it. I also wish Gero hadn't made comments that implied that he felt that friendship and family love weren't as important as romantic love.

I actually think that TPTB knew earlier than we realize about the cancellation. They certainly have been quick to dump it in favor of Stargate: Universe. I have a feeling they did Brainstorm ONLY because they knew the show was ending so they wanted Rodney to get the girl and shoved all other plot lines to the side to do it. Even when they did announce the cancellation the second half hadn't even been filmed yet! (or at least several of the last few episodes hadn't been.

I try to never blaim the characters for the writers being stupid. I HATE character bashing because most of the time what people hate the characters for is all about the way they're written. If they're making bad jokes at another characters expense it's because they're being written that way! How can you hate a fictional character that much?

It depends on how attached you are ... if a person is getting horribly upset buy every little thing that happens to the character than I'd say they were getting a little crazy about the character.
