HAHA yeah, what you just said is one of the reasons I adore Hetalia so much. Current events and world affairs are made far more interesting~. XD

AND OH TRUST ME it is a common thing. I have also learned so much about history that I never would have known because I keep reading articles... because I want to write fic. W-which is possibly a horrible reason, but at least I'm learning?

That being said, as far as I know, Denmark has shown up only peripherally in the translated strips. (I know he has a character design, so it's possible he's in the strips that haven't been translated [or in translated ones that I've missed].) But Sweden escapes from Denmark with Finland in tow. XD And Finland spends much of the first strips being terrified of Sweden's gruffness~ so yeah, there's the implications that there was a BATTLE but nothing fleshed out. ... Though it's completely possible I've missed something. XD

WOW forgive me my rambling, it's late.

Rambling is perfectly okay, really. It makes me giggle!

I only know that, historically, Denmark and Sweden have pretty much hated each other. Lots of wars, especially with Denmark owning what's now the very southern part of Sweden (called Skåne) for quite a while. The people there still make noise about wanting to belong to Denmark again. :) One of my flatmates is from there, so of course I get the info.

It's actually a little sad to hear about Finland being such a wuss! The Finns stopped Russia from invading due to extreme cold and the ability to snipe from rooftops and then escape on skis. **grin**

I feel I need to watch/read this series now.

Yeah, Sweden and Denmark do not get along. And Sweden also does not like Russia. At all.

WELL LIKE Finland's not a wuss eventually, but in the beginning strips with he and Sweden leaving Denmark he is. Well, not a wuss, but SCARED OF SWEDEN because Sweden is represented as a big gruff guy who doesn't talk a lot. Otherwise he's awesome. Man, I should find the strips for you...

I have been told by Swedish friends that they disagree with the characterizations if they were to represent modern day Sweden and Finland, but that for the direct time period it's a pretty good characterization. XD

Edit: AHA! And here's Poland, Lithuania, Finland, and Sweden in The Polish-Swedish Wars (http://community.livejournal.com/hetalia/15100.html). Finland is much more hardcore in it. :D
