What do you mean, and? I thought that was pretty self-explanatory. It's the fangirls hooking everything they possibly can up that make the biggest deal out of things being gay. It's not homophobia that makes it annoying, but the compulsion to see any pair of penises bone. As a friend of mine once said, while watching a guy and girl anime character watch on screen, "Heh heh heh, if they were both guys, this would be really gay." Don't let them being cutesy super-deformed representations of nations at war get in your way! I'm not bothered by it, but I can see why someone would see that as going too far.

The fact that the characters are overwhelmingly male makes it specifically "go gay", btw.

I get the same thing in the Transformers fandom. At least there they aren't human.

It's the fact that they NEED to have romance and sex in something about little chubby cartoon characters representing nations at war. That's kind of not sexy.
