All of this.

I also hate the "I liked it before everyone else" mentality because, like, you can't always control when you get into a band? Some bands get more popular in some circles/areas before they do other places, or they came out when some of the newer fans were really young (or hell, before they were even born), or things of that sort. Getting to hear of an artist before other people because of where you lived or when you were born or things like that doesn't make you special or a "better" fan, it just makes you lucky.
