It's really, really bad. Which is a shame, because it's otherwise a charming performance (and apparently when Dick Van Dyke belatedly realised how bad it was, he was really embarrassed and asked why no-one had told him during filming).

Bless him. It was awful but it's a credit to him as an actor that his performance was no less charming for it. :)
