This, pretty much. If one must include lyrics in a fic, just a couple lines or a verse at the beginning or the end of the fic that best fits the story will do.

AYRT - Agreed. I know that kind of thing has gone a little bit out of fashion, but I have no problem with it. Especially a few lines of a poem or a more obscure literary quote or something, at the beginning or the end. Sometimes it can be really resonant and lovely. That kind of thing never bothers me. Even when the thing that's quoted does nothing for me, I find it almost never detracts from the work, and is usually easy to ignore if I feel like ignoring it.
