Agreed. But I'd take it further and say that is true for almost any female canon character.

Yeah agree. My mind just springs to Rey, because for me she encapsulates this particular misogynist nerdbro trend, and I've seen her disproportionately referred to as such over any other female canon character since Ginny Weasley.

I see it with Carol Danvers as well and the female Doctor on Doctor Who. But yes, it is a particular Nerdbro thing where strong female leads will be Mary Sues where similar male characters won't be.

Yeah, most of the time when men call characters Mary Sues it's like they mean "This female character is better than the male characters at some important things, which I don't like, and the narrative is making me pay attention to her, and I also don't like. Women who are not in supportive roles threaten me but I can't admit that, so I claim the problem is with them and not with me."
