I feel you hard. I always leave a comment on a fic I liked after I've read it telling the author what I enjoyed because I know how much it means to me as a writer when I get comments!

There's some work I'm never going to finish because the comments kinda fizzled out and then I wondered if I was even doing well telling a story anymore.

On the flip side I would happily receive only kudos forever if it meant no one mean/troll commented. One such comment on a fic I wrote two years ago landed me in a two year writing dry spell that I only just managed to break out of. (I'm not against recieving legit crit but this one basically amounted to "you wrote the story wrong, here's what should've happened" and it hurt me so bad)

see, comments like the one you are mentioning would only get me angry-- this is literally your fic, you decide how you wabt it to go. If someone feels that way, they can go agead and write their own. I would give them permission to remix the fic & post.
