I actually hate the hit count more than kudos, because in the past, I could at least pretend that only a handful of people were reading my fics but most were at least providing feedback. Now that I know the real ratio, whenever I see the hit count go up without corresponding comments or even kudos, I just get more annoyed and less motivated to write more fic.
