Still pretty early in the day, but tell us all about it anyway!

I got iced coffee and pastries from my favorite bakery this morning, and right now I'm just browsing the internet and chilling. It's supposed to rain today so I'll probably smoke a bowl and watch movies, and I'm making pork chops for dinner. A quiet day at home pretty much.

Rewatch Captain Marvel, watch an Almod´ovar movie, silently pray for my neighbours to just shut up oh I overheard earlier this month that they're be moving out on June 1st and I was counting the days? but they whipped out the inflatable kiddie pool yesterday, bet their application got rejected and they're still here to stay.

Just finished a Toastmasters area annual meeting that took 4 hours, which I was not expecting. It was a boring, miserable experience. That type of meeting is one of the reasons I hate being in leadership positions. I'm no good at it, I don't enjoy it, and I find so much of the procedural way things are done useless and detrimental to actually getting things done.

Now I'm eating a turkey sandwich and some strawberry rhubarb cobbler for lunch.

Trying to psych myself up to take my meds and talking myself out of eating a donut for breakfast.

I've been drawing, listening to podcasts and at one point I went on a run.

Watched some AtLA, played a little animal crossing, chilled out with my cats and my wife. Pretty much the same thing we've been doing. :/

my work holds a youth scholarship competition every year, and the videos for performing art entries are due on june 1st. i'm the one in charge of the technical side of junk. the vast majority of kids choose to submit them to me this weekend, right before the deadline haha (no shade tho, that would've been me too).

Feeling like I got hit by a bus because I did a lot of unaccustomed (especially since my exercise routine went poof because quarantine) physical stuff at work the last few days, so today I have barely left the couch. In fact I may take a nap. There is housecleaning stuff to do and also errands to deal with but that’s what tomorrow is for. Ow ow fuck ow.

It's after 4 pm and I'm basically still in bed. Humanity is being such a garbage fire right now - and that's on to of being shitty for months.

Watching the country fall apart. No one I know has been able to talk or think about anything else for the past few days. Granted, mine is unfortunately one of the cities where stuff has gotten really bad so that makes sense, but I feel like there are enough people here (on FS, I mean) from all over that I'm surprised no one's really talking about it.

I managed to read some (fiction) for a few minutes earlier, and there was the space launch, which was a brief distraction, but otherwise I've been glued to nonstop misery for the last 48 hours. Which probably isn't healthy, but I haven't been able to pull myself away because I want to to know what's going on.

We're on curfew, the national guard is coming in, everyone on local social media groups is pissed at the mayor and accusing the local media of covering up for our corrupt cops and everything is just fucked.

I've been awake way too long at this point but don't really want to go to bed because I'm afraid of what might happen while I'm sleeping. :(

I’m sorry. What’s going on is awful and is piled on top of the pandemic and president being awful and when I feel less physically ouchy I will donate some money. Idk. I can’t blame the protestors because holy fuck cops are shit and white supremacists are shit and any reaction including saying “please don’t kill me” or kneeling silently are seen as inciting violence because white people don’t think black people should be allowed to exist and have basic human dignity and and and—

I dunno. I hope you are safe and stay that way.

Someone went shopping in a Klan hood in my county a couple weeks ago and he wasn’t charged with anything. I am white and have certainly said and done racist crap because I was thoughtless or ignorant or both but I don’t understand wanting to hurt black people or anyone who isn’t white (straight, abled, Christian, cis, rich, etc etc) because... they exist?

And the white people who think that way have power and want more so they become cops (or president) and shit like this happens. I hope the protestors are safe and I fear they are not.

I was surprised no one was talking about the craziness on the news, but at the same time, I think I get it. I'm torn between not wanting to miss any important things and wanting to save my sanity. I try to laugh at absurdity, but at the same time, I'm scared shitless for America's future and its democracy. And I can't believe there are people who still intend to vote for the orange turd, knowing exactly who and what he is, because according to them ThE lEfT hAs BeCoMe tHe SiDe oF HaTe (and I'm like, what goddamn planet are you living on? Blue ain't perfect, but they're better than another four years of this shit). And I can't believe there are people who still intend to sit on the sidelines for the same reason, not fucking getting that this may or may not be the last year they have the luxury of deciding that themselves.

Yeah, I know everything I just said sounds batshit crazy, and I would have agreed a year ago. But every day, this administration finds a way to make everything suck worse, they are emboldening their side and their supporters to make life suck worse for everyone in the country. Past empires have fallen when the people were divided, leadership was shit, self-interests were placed above national interests, the nation was in great debt and vulnerable/prone to foreign interference. Does any of that sound familiar? I am not saying life will be hunky-dory when the orange turd is voted out, but at least we can get a goddamn breather so that we can think about the next thing that needs to be done.

Well that was a tangent, sorry. But the divisions continue and it's fucking up this country. These riots being one of those divisions. The story gets weirder and more confusing every day, and people can't seem to decide who's responsible for what. I don't know what's going on now. All I can say is, if there is interference, it needs to stop. If there's a cover-up, it needs to stop. And if either or both of those things is happening, we need to be smarter and stronger than this. I don't have any words of comfort or wisdom, except to say don't get distracted from the bigger issue(s) (though yes, police brutality and racism and rioting are bad), and take care of yourself when you need to.

Waited until the rain stopped to go to the grocery store. Immediately regretted going during a weekend, but at least now I have cheesecake and beer. (And salmon and veggies and the other healthy stuff)

Made dinner and now I am deciding whether to play ROM hacks or watch various Youtube videos.

I'm doing GISH. I have the 6pm Zoom meeting on right now.

Worked most of the day, got a lot done though.
