And meanwhile, my grandpa would have a glass of whiskey every night after dinner and he lived to 95 so yeah, anecdotal evidence isn't worth much.

No of course anecdotal evidence isn't worth anything. That’s why I explicitly said it was anecdotal evidence. One of the world's oldest ever women smoked 40 a day, that doesn't negate the huge body of evidence showing that smoking is bad for you and will most likely shorten your life span. However, my experience left a lasting impression on me which is what i was sharing. And to be fair, at least my sample of 36 was bigger than just one person.
