The violence and abuse felt relevant to historical facts though, not exploitative like in Got. I wish it hadn’t been cancelled too nonny. Have you seen I, Claudius?

SA - I definitely agree with you that it had its place as a part of the historical basis of the series. I do think it perhaps got a bit gratuitous in a couple of places but it still doesn't feel especially male-gazey, if that makes sense? It's definitely filmed in a way to do nothing but repulse you e.g. the torment of Sevilla in season 2.

Yes indeed I have seen I, Claudius! Not for many years though. I need to revisit that too.
