I don't get the "he did nothing wrong" camp either. I also didn't get the "he's the worst villain ever, he's worse than Vader and irredeemable for killing Han no matter who else killed more people how dare you suggest he could possibly be redeemed" camp either back pre-TROS given how common redemption stories are in Star Wars. I didn't love how his redemption was done, but I do like redemption stories and was game for him being redeemed if done right.

The problem with Kyle's redemption wasn't that he was more evil than Vader and thus could never be redeemed. The problem was that Kyle's backstory boiled down to "Mommy and Daddy don't pay enough attention to me so I'ma be a Nazi," so most people were more interested in seeing him take a fist to his whiny bitch face than seeing him redeemed.

NA: That, and he spent two movies responding to almost every attempt at reconciliation with extreme violence. Then, mid-movie we get a Force Heal, a heart-to-heart with ghost dad, and a sudden 180.

And that's totally cool. I just had issues with the "he's worse than Vader because he killed Han" camp.

I don't know that either is worse than the other. Both fully embrace the Tarkin doctrine, and Kylo gives a monologue advocating for it. Killing Han is just a dingleberry on a shit sundae.

I can't say that I've ever seen anyone say the only reason Kylo Ren is worse than any other villain is that he killed Han Solo. Sorry you've run into that.
