Well, both were considerably older than the canon characters. Then again, Rickman was older than Snape too, and far fewer people complained about him. He was considered hot enough it didn't matter to people. Personally, I thought they all looked too old because I think the age of the characters and therefore when specifically they grew up and how old they were at the point when Lily and James died was an important part of their story.

OT, but I think I just saw you in Not Always Right. you were talking about Jesus having siblings.

Yup, that was me. My dad teaches theology, so I do know a few things. Don't think it ultimately matters, but I've always found the obsession with Mary remaining a virgin even after marriage weird so I figured I'd add what I knew about other perspectives.
