Unfortunately, the first two movies were pretty bland because they were so intent on giving the audience a perfect adaptation that they forgot that movies are paced differently than books. The costuming and set direction were definitely the best parts of those movies, though.

Which, tbf, is exactly what little 12-year-old Cal wanted from an adaptation. I just wanted the book on the screen, and they sure are that, mostly. I will give you PS being a little bland, though, but CoS was a good step in the right direction and I still feel it holds up, personally.

But also the costuming. I just want wizards to wear robes. >:(
