I thought I read an interview where they did mention Jessica was a "warrior nun"...huh.

It would suck if they did -- while I never read ALL of Dune (certainly not enough to get into the religious themes) -- if that is integral to the story, and the motivations and understanding of the characters and the state of things.
Things shouldn't be white washed to make things more palatable. if it's being done to be relevant, then don't call it Dune, go ahead and make it something else.
