Faith's backstory is sad, but the Father's eulogy leaves me unmoved since he was the one who brainwashed her into becoming Faith in the first place.

Oh, it wasn't her real name. She was Rachel before she joined the cult. Better yet?
She wasn't the first "Faith".
If the player hunts around, they can find clues that she was Faith #3, and the other two... Probably didn't go to a nice farm in the countryside.

Very much so. The other three cult leaders are John, Joseph and Jacob. You may note a theme.

I haven't played the game, but I'm sometimes weirdly sympathetic towards fictional villains who are part of a cult, because of having real-life cult trauma myself. Like, it's something I can relate to part of, and in a fucked up way I feel solidarity with people who harmed me really badly that I know were also victims themselves.

(Sorry for a weirdly heavy response, I'm okay and far away from anything like that in my life now)

I'm sorry that happened to you, and I'm glad you're in a better place.
These characters also get a fair amount of sympathy in the fandom, because they have terrible backstories, but I'd say you have rather more reason for sympathy than most.
