He had the most interesting back story for sure, and one that mattered. People wanted to know Rey's story, but as we found out, it didn't matter what her background was at all, it could be anything and it would still end basically the same. Finn could have been an active inspiration to the rebel cause and whole stories could be written about him, but instead, he got some throwaway jokes that barely made sense.
