I stopped reading BNHA a while ago, but I got the impression there was a public/private face thing going on. Like when Ragdoll lost her powers, we got a panel of her crying together with her friends, then we got her in public acting cheerful and accepting about it.

Ragdoll is maybe one of the better-treated ones. It still bothered me, but at least it's not played for laughs and she's far enough in the background that her scenes are pretty balanced.

Since you haven't following, I think you're just going to have to trust me that it gets much, much worse in other cases.
