See, for me, the comparison to LWJ and WWX falls flat because when WWX was at his worst, he was still protesting his innocence and pointing out actual glaring flaws in the logic of his accusers. Even LXC seemed to realize that at the time. In the temple scene, however, JGY's excuses were just that: excuses. "Sorry I destroyed your family, but you see my daddy didn't love me enough so lol what else could I do?"

I understand the love-blindness comparison, for sure, but given everything that LXC heard DIRECTLY from JGY's mouth that night...

Well, yes. I don't think LXC still believed JGY was innocent by then, though. I think he still felt conflicted about whether or not he personally could condemn and punish his sworn brother even if it was a richly deserved condemnation and punishment. The way I look at it is that LXC is one of those people who are so good that they think everyone else is, too and they have a really hard time believing that anyone could be that wicked even when faced with the ugly truth.
