2. From what I understand that cast was stacked with a whole bunch of talented people who ALL didn't cover themselves in glory. I haven't subjected myself to it yet but from what I've seen, most comments seem to suggest it's a bad film/adaption and nobody among the big names was able to save it.

Why would you think Cats is indicative of what she can and can't do?

She maybe does need to pick better projects, though.

(Anonymous) 2020-06-07 08:33 am (UTC)(link)MTE. First off, even Judi Dench and Idris Elba got bogged down by its awfulness. Therefore, IMO, you can't really use Cats as an example against the abilities of any of the actors that were in it.
Secondly, Taylor Swift is easily one of the most successful musical artists on the planet. Pretty sure acting is a lark for her, not an endeavor to prove her acting chops.
