I can relate. I used to just go to the library and grab anything that had an interesting title/cover, and I never picked up a book so bad I didn't finish it. Then as I got older, I started sticking with authors I already knew, then it was mostly Terry Pratchett, and then Terry Pratchett died. So now it's mainly fanfiction and rereading old favorites.

I keep thinking I should try to get back to the habits of my youth, but I'm too comfortable with the status quo to make an effort.

Hopefully those antics you mentioned are just on camera. I have no opinion on the matter since I stopped watching them as well, but I've seen a couple of their videos from around the time they left Buzzfeed (at least, that's what I remember) and they looked alright. Not particularly great, not terrible. I did look at the comments a bit (why did I do that...) and the Eugene worship did look over the top, he's just a regular dude y'all????

yea, you're a furry. but it's 2020 and nobody really cares anymore unless they are the type to just use it as a "whoa weird internet culture reference!" shock gag. (obviously some parts of the fandom get Weird but you'd be hard pressed to find an online community that doesn't)

i made friends w a bunch of furries this year and my eyes have been opened lmao. being "furry" apparently just means you think anthropomorphic animals are cool? like that's the only criteria according to most actual furries. the rest is just flare in alignment w personal taste. and frankly, considering how many anthropomorphic animals show up in media here and there, we're probably all furries

Huh, I never gave it much thought before seeing this secret, but I think I had a crush on Basil, too. I moved on to an obsessive interest in all things Sherlock Holmes pretty quickly, but The Great Mouse Detective was where that all started.

I only ever saw bits and pieces of this show, but I love when ancient settings are depicted as colorful and messy (see also: the city scenes in Apocalypto). I'm not equipped to discuss historical accuracy, but I do know the ancient world wasn't like a perfect, sterile museum diorama or "these ruins, just less ruined." Things were painted in colors and there were baskets and textiles and other things that don't preserve well and there was garbage in the streets.

That also makes me so angry, even if it's fictional it's still a MAJOR financial decision that one person is making without the knowledge or consent of the other person in the relationship!!! Like holy fuck that's akin to coming home and telling your partner that you've accepted a job on the other side of the planet and you'll all be moving there next week, haha isn't that cute??? No, you fuckers, it's not cute, it's a pinnacle of selfishness and inconsideration and it's almost always portrayed as OMG SEW ROMANTIQUE, and you have perfectly highlighted the reasons why it absolutely ISN'T in this secret, anon.

(I was DONE with Jim [USA version of The Office] when he bought his childhood home for him and Pam and the writers wrote it so Pam was totes cool with that, because of course she was, eyeroll.)

That's a big part of my issues with Drive as a series tbh, the second half has a lot of very iffy stuff like this, especially tied in to the treatment of the Roidmudes. Add in one of the franchise's especially egregious examples of it not doing right by its female characters with Kiriko, plus all that focus on obnoxious ass Gou, and I'm just not fond of it overall.
