127. Do they have specific ages? (I'd check what other people say about this secret but I can't because my computer is sooo slow.) I know Ariel specifically says in the movie that she's sixteen, and so's Aurora, and for some reason I want to think that Jasmine was fifteen. But 15-16 and having a rack like that? Plus getting married at that age? Whatever, Disney, I know they're fairy tales but I don't want to buy that. It's make more sense on all sorts of levels if they're 21-22. So yeah, I'm with you on that one.

So was I, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's average, does it?
Look at Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle...three in a row with larger than average breasts, three princesses from the nineties. It's kind of interesting how within the last seventy years we invented adolescence and hyper-sexualization of young teenagers. The boobs get bigger as time goes on—going by the picture it's Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Jasmine, and Belle. And what about Pocahontas, Esmerelda, and Megara? Not really considered Disney princesses, but all pretty well-endowed (Mulan and Jane are exceptions due to plot reasons/the Victorian era, haha). Quite indicative of the leaps our society has taken, wouldn't you say?
Like I said, I have big boobs so I don't really have strong opinions about the various negative effects this sort of thing can have on girls, but I do find it really interesting anyway. I can definitely see how some people might take issue with a sixteen-year-old swimming around in a D-cup seashell bra. When Disney artists designed Ariel, they were not saying, "Hey, it's okay to be young and have big boobs, it's totally empowering," they were saying, "This is what society thinks the ideal young female should look like. This is what we think the public wants to see: ROFL JAILBAIT BEWBS!" And it turned into a joke the world over.
And as for getting married at sixteen, yeah, it was okay way way back in the day, but little girls today probably don't realize that, nor can they necessarily relate to it. I don't know about you, but I was six years old when The Little Mermaid came out and I distinctly remember being kind of surprised that Ariel got married at the end. Then again, I was a weird kid, I'm not sure why it didn't occur to me that she married Eric because it was OMGTWOOWUV.
Er, sorry, I kind of wrote you an essay. I was originally trying to get across that since I am personally not comfortable with the sexualizing a sixteen-year-old, I tend to want to think of Ariel and the others as being older than they actually are, and that's just how I see things.
