(Anonymous) 2020-06-11 07:29 am (UTC)(link)I honestly think Pocahontas would be having a Hercules-like resurrection right now if Gibson wasn't such a douchenozzle. I mean that scene where the two meet in the mist? I want to be talking about that ALL THE TIME. I want to discuss how Pocahontas is almost definitely the most difficult musical part of any Disney female ever and how Judy Kuhn absolutely slays it. (Seriously, try singing Let it Go and then contrast with singing Just Around the Riverbend and you will understand what real talent and technique truly is.) The aforementioned restoration of If I Never Knew You and the way it's so perfectly animated that you can see unshed tears in Pocahontas's eyes. And talking about the ending as an adult and bursting into tears realizing it's not a sad ending at all. Goddam that movie has some really good stuff.
