Honestly, I'm pretty sure I kind soup everyone up ib my head and when i read fic

OP of thread, and yeah, I get this for sure. I think for me the distinction is like, there are some characters where I am very aware that I'm imagining the character a lot better looking than they are in canon. And then there are other characters where my brain's just giving them a very light bit of mental photoshop. Just a little light tweaking.

And then, occasionally, there are characters where occasionally I see them on screen and am literally shook by how beautiful they are. Like, my own brain sometimes fails to imagine them adequately.

I agree with you about the HP characters, including Draco. I've never been all that into the Labyrinth but I understand you about Bowie. He's hot, but The Goblin King is the kind of darkly bewitching character who can always afford to be more good looking. I agree with you on most of these characters, actually, though I don't have your intense Jack Sparrow love, so I'd probably move him to the middle category: he is completely adequate in his attractiveness and looks exactly how I want him to. I wouldn't change him. :P

I'm inclined to agree, it's a holdover from my youth/nostalgia. He became the template for "my type".

I definitely see what you're saying. My HP list gets the full treatment, undoubtedly. As for the Goblin King, it's exactly that. Fae are supposed to be unearthly and unsettling with their beauty, something sharp and dark. My middle category gets light photoshop (mentally), at worst.
