Well, you can always try "live and let live" when it comes to shipping. You know what you did, you know it wasn't nice, now realize that in the grand scheme of things, shipping and who ships what with whom and why is pretty darn inconsequential, and do better from now on.

If you recognize this negativity about yourself, you've got a place to start to change yourself. Stop worrying about what other people think and work on being less like them.

I agree with the comments above. It's good that you've recognised you acted like a "terrible" person. The consequences of you being a "bully" online would have been far reaching. Online bullying has terrible consequences for those involved. I recently was messaged on archiveofourown from an author who stopped writing fic after receiving negative feedback. That's terrible, but minor, compared to what others go through after being bullied.
Again, I'm glad you're working on your own negative behaviour. Have you considered talking to someone, say a counsellor?
