the celeb gossip industry isn't worth billions of dollars for nothing. it's rly easy to get caught up in wanting to share opinions about things that are shoved in our face in many ways, and celebrities are an easy target w how commodified and dehumanized they are. i've been there. i've had my opinions~ lmao.

that can be harmful in it's own ways obviously. but i think it becomes more insidious w what she's doing when she starts spouting out false info and opinions as tho they are Truth, and dropping mental illness diagnoses like it's nothing. you could find another source of cheap celeb gossip to indulge in without having the other awful stuff you recognize in her. (now that i'm thinking about it, is ontd still around? hahaha)

It's not the celeb gossip that draws me in, though. I despise tabloids and have never bought one in my life. I don't think I despise them because they're mean, though. I think I despise them because they're profoundly stupid and mean.

What draws me in with Shallon is the way she uses celeb "insider info" to discuss the neurotic ways that people behave in real life situations. I'm here for the gossip + armchair-psych combo...until she says something that is truly beyond the pale (e.g cruelly making fun of Pete Davidson's mental health), and then I'm like, oh god, why am I watching this?

oh gotcha. i can understand that, in the way that like. celebrity life is so foreign to most of us and it's always interesting to hear about the psychology of people who go through that kinda? and shallon has this natural talent for making it all feel juicy~ w the amazing ease w which she hypes up her secret sources and rabbit hole conclusions lmao. she's charismatic i'll give her that. but she def takes it too far. the pete davidson comments were def the ones that stuck w me the most out of all the junk i've heard her say that just made me so upset :(
