I've had that happen before and I think I just grew out of enjoying the writer's style.

Yeah, tastes can change over time.
I was reminiscing over fics from a fandom I was in over 10 years ago and tried to look for them on ff.net, but most of the ones I found were not well written or just... I can't describe it other than 'gay' fiction trope-y? It's something I've noticed with early 2000s slash fics and I wish I could describe it better, but it's like a noticeable relationship dynamic written in a certain way.

I feel this way about a lot of the fics I loved as a teen. What at the time seemed incredibly deep and profound to me, now often just seems try-hard and emo, or just plain purple.
