Sometimes loving yourself means recognizing that you're not getting what you want from the experience and doing something else.

DA Yep, I did that. Went off to more welcoming fandoms. Since I was the only person writing in the first fandom, there was no new fic for years. That wouldn't have mattered except to the people who were liking the fics enough to go through and kudos them all but not comment.

NA - The people reading all your fics one after another and leaving kudos on all of them are telling you they like your fics. Just because they're not telling you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they're not telling you.

That's too bad, but still doesn't mean they have to keep doing something that doesn't feel rewarding.

I mean... if you're only writing because you want feedback, I'd have to question whether you actually enjoy the process of writing at all.

See how quickly we went from "it's okay to want feedback" to "if you don't write without feedback you must not like writing"?

If you're writing because you genuinely love coming up with stories and putting them into words on a page, feedback is like decorations on a cake: nice, but not necessary, because the cake tastes good without them.
