(Anonymous) 2020-06-15 09:45 am (UTC)(link)But yeah, I think this is one of the reasons why very popular and skilled authors don't always hugely outstrip meh authors in their hits-to-kudos ratios. Because readers keep coming back to reread the skilled authors work. And also, people are more likely to check back repeatedly to see if a really great fic has updated (if you're the sort of person to get restless and not just rely on your email notification to let you know when something's updated).
Also, I'm pretty sure hits-to-kudos ratios tend to slip a little over time. Once a fic isn't brand new, people seem to be more likely to read and not leave kudos, even if they liked something.
I honestly care about my hits-to-kudos ratio a little. But not a lot, because yeah, there are a lot of factors that contribute to determining what your ratio will be, and how good your fic is is only one of those factors.
