The amount of people pretending that protests are not going to cause a massive spike in covid cases is making me lose my goddamn mind. Look, I also wish it was not the case but the fact of the matter is not everyone wore masks, there’s zero social distancing, and plenty of yelling and talking. There’s no way it won’t increase the numbers. It fucking sucks but the virus doesn’t care it’s for the common good.

Out of the things that are going to cause a massive spike in covid cases, protest are not the biggest ones, because (1) lots of people did wear masks (2) it was mostly outside and, most importantly, (3) there are much worse vectors

People were in crowds for hours with minimal social distancing. How is that much different from a sporting event which is considered high risk?

Additionally the amount of people protesting has been much much bigger than any other event that has taken place during the shutdown which massively increases the risk.
