I think Wilson does care, and I don't get the vibe that he's cold-natured at all. I think, like Cameron, he is attracted to needy people because of this desire to help fix them. He likes to think he can, even if it's hopeless. And I don't think that means he's faking it with other people. It's just this desire to right the wrongs in the world that he isn't in control of, and Wilson gets trampled on so much that he wants to have some sort of control. Helping needy people is that one thing he can control and gives him some sort of purpose.

I just got more of a feeling that he wanted to be like Amber more than he loved her. He both loathes and admires those qualities that Amber and House both have -- he cares so much, he wants to not give a damn. That may come across as cold at times, but he does care a lot. The trick is he just doesn't want to. I think that's what he has in common with House. House just knows how to pretend he doesn't give a damn, and Wilson is no good at it.

Wilson's not a cold person. He just wishes he could be because then maybe life would be easier for him. That's what I get from him, anyway.

No, I do agree that he cares, but not to the extent that he wants to. That's why he gets so well with House, why he understands him more than anyone else seems to. He tries to be normal, but he's not, and House sees that in him.

I'm reminded of a quote towards the beginning of the series, where House faceitiously called him "the good guy" and WIlson said "at least I try." It seemed flippant, but after that quote I started noticing little things about Wilson's personality. He's a dark person pretending otherwise.

Hmm, I see the opposite, but I suppose everyone has a different way of deducting things. ;)

Maybe I'm just a cynic. XD
